Laurel Huerkamp counsels and defends clients involved in all types of civil claims, including medical negligence, product liability, premises liability, commercial litigation, and general casualty matters.
Laurel joins Frith Anderson + Peake following eleven years as an Assistant Attorney General in the Office of the Attorney General for the Commonwealth of Virginia. There, Laurel practiced in the Civil Litigation Division, most recently as the Medical Recovery Unit Manager. During her time with the AG’s Office, Laurel represented the Department of Medical Assistance Services in state and federal courts specializing in civil litigation matters related to third-party liability, recipient ineligibility, and provider recoupment. She also represented other Commonwealth agencies, including the Virginia Department of Transportation, the Department of State Police, and the College of William and Mary in civil litigation matters, and reviewed proposed legislation to determine potential impacts on the Commonwealth’s agencies.
Prior to her service to the Commonwealth, Laurel clerked for the judges of Virginia’s Fourteenth Judicial Circuit in Henrico County, Virginia.
