Born and raised in Keyser, West Virginia, Austin moved to Virginia in 2016 to attend Hampden-Sydney College, where he majored in Philosophy and graduated summa cum laude in 2020.

After obtaining his undergraduate degree, Austin attended the University of Richmond School of Law. During law school, he interned at the Virginia Poverty Law Center, where he worked on the Eviction Legal Helpline to help low-income renters defend against eviction actions. As a research assistant to Dr. Rebecca Crootof, he explored the implications of autonomous weapon systems and artificial intelligence in the context of international law and the law of war. He participated in and won a schoolwide mediation competition sponsored by the Alternative Dispute Resolution Society, and subsequently participated in a regional arbitration competition. He also worked as a law clerk at a personal injury firm in Richmond, where he developed a love for civil litigation.

After receiving his Juris Doctor degree in 2023, Austin briefly worked at FA+P before pursuing the opportunity to clerk for the Honorable Judge C. Kailani Memmer, United States Magistrate Judge for the Western District of Virginia. After his clerkship ended, Austin returned to FA+P, where he is eager to put the skills acquired during his clerkship to use. Kyle Lang is an associate attorney focused on civil litigation, specifically in the areas of medical malpractice and long-term care/nursing home litigation.

Randy routinely practices in state and federal court, where he tries cases to verdict in both bench and jury trials. Randy also offers advice to both public and private clients on matters related to policy and litigation. In addition, Randy has been successful finding resolution through alternative dispute resolution processes, including mediations, arbitrations, and judicial settlement conferences–this success stems from his ability to evaluate the likely outcomes of his cases and advise his clients accordingly.

He has experience advising governmental agencies on issues concerning the intersection of public policy and available legal remedies. In addition, Randy has handled and advised his clients on complex litigation matters, including in areas of construction, residential and commercial real estate disputes, commercial leases, employment, liability defense, and insurance coverage. Randy also understands how to work with law enforcement and governmental agencies to provide complete relief to clients when necessary, and regularly coordinates with government attorneys and employees to help streamline results for his clients.

Prior to joining Frith Anderson + Peake, Randy practiced for several years at mid-sized firms in Richmond, Virginia, and prior to that he served in the Office of the Attorney General of Virginia where he practiced as an Assistant Attorney General in the Civil Litigation Division. Grace Morse McNelis has over 25 years’ experience advocating for the interests of healthcare providers in a variety of settings. Laurel Huerkamp counsels and defends clients involved in all types of civil claims, including medical negligence, product liability, premises liability, commercial litigation, and general casualty matters.

Laurel joins Frith Anderson + Peake following eleven years as an Assistant Attorney General in the Office of the Attorney General for the Commonwealth of Virginia.  There, Laurel practiced in the Civil Litigation Division, most recently as the Medical Recovery Unit Manager.  During her time with the AG’s Office, Laurel represented the Department of Medical Assistance Services in state and federal courts specializing in civil litigation matters related to third-party liability, recipient ineligibility, and provider recoupment.  She also represented other Commonwealth agencies, including the Virginia Department of Transportation, the Department of State Police, and the College of William and Mary in civil litigation matters, and reviewed proposed legislation to determine potential impacts on the Commonwealth’s agencies.

Matthew Wyatt is from Gretna, Virginia.  He graduated with distinction from the University of Virginia with a Bachelor of Arts degree, double majoring in Government and History, with a minor in Russian language.  He received his Juris Doctor degree, cum laude, from Washington and Lee University School of Law.

While at Washington and Lee, Matthew was a research assistant on a variety of topics including federal privacy law, Virginia civil procedure, and the Uniform Commercial Code.  During law school, Matthew participated in various competitions and received an award for Best Brief in the 2019 John W.
