Super Lawyers is a rating service of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high-degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. The patented selection process includes independent research, peer nominations and peer evaluations. No more than 5% of the attorneys in a state are named to Super Lawyers. To be eligible for inclusion as a Rising Star, a candidate must be either 40 years old or younger or in practice for 10 years or less. No more than 2.5% of the lawyers in a state are named to Rising Stars.

Attorneys Peake and Workowski Present at VADA Meeting

Frith Anderson + Peake PC attorneys Walt Peake and Sean Workowski presented an ethics CLE at the 2018 Annual Meeting for the Virginia Association of Defense Attorneys in Williamsburg, Virginia on October 12. Keeping with the VADA’s 50th Anniversary Annual Meeting theme of “Looking Back & Moving Forward,” Peake and Workowski addressed ethical issues in the changing practice of law for the insurance defense lawyer as well as ethical conundrums commonly—and not so commonly—faced by all trial attorneys. The topics addressed included effective representation while controlling costs, ethical obligations in mediation and settlement conferences, the potential crossroads between the unauthorized practice of law and “paralegal tasks,” and jury research in the social media age.

Walt is a founding partner of FA+P. He specializes in medical malpractice defense and the representation of healthcare professionals in licensing, board and privileges matters, as well as other healthcare matters. Sean’s primary focus is civil litigation, particularly in the areas of insurance defense, transportation, insurance coverage, products liability, premises liability and subrogation.

Sean Workowski is Installed as President of Virginia Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates

Frith Anderson + Peake is proud to announce that Sean Workowski was installed as President of the Virginia Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates’ (“ABOTA”) at the chapter’s Annual Meeting on January 25, 2018. The general purpose of ABOTA is “foster improvement in the ethical and technical standards of practice in the field of advocacy to the end that individual litigants may receive more effective representation and the general public be benefited by more efficient administration of justice consistent with time-tested and traditional principles of litigation.” Membership to ABOTA is by invitation only.

FA+P Attorneys speak at 2017 Virginia Association of Defense Attorneys’ Annual Meeting

Attorneys Walt Peake, Sean Workowski and Andrew Gerrish were speakers at the 2017 Virginia Association of Defense Attorneys’ Annual Meeting in October 2017.

Walt, Sean and Andy presented on Ethics During Trial. This ethics presentation outlined recent changes to Virginia Rules of Professional Conduct 1.6 and 3.3 regarding the duties of confidentiality and candor towards the tribunal. During this ethics CLE, Sean and Walt also discussed ethics questions that had arisen in their practices; hypothetical ethics questions; and the application of the rules, legal ethics opinions, and case law to those scenarios.

Sean Workowski also served as a panel member for a discussion on defending cases involving traumatic brain injuries titled TBI 101: Investigating and Defending TBI Cases. Andy also served on the VADA’s Annual Meeting committee.

Walt is a founding member of FA+P. He specializes in medical malpractice defense and the representation of healthcare professionals in licensing, board and privileges matters, as well as other healthcare matters. Sean’s primary focus is civil litigation, particularly in the areas of insurance defense, transportation, insurance coverage, products liability, premises liability and subrogation. Andy focuses his practice on civil litigation, particularly in the areas of insurance defense; insurance coverage; premises liability; legal malpractice; professional liability; community associations; and architect, engineer, and contractor liability.
